Health & Wellbeing

Our revision tips for the Health & Wellbeing department.
Now for some of you, this will be the first time you are revising for exam season. Others with have had experience, but now, as a sixth year, I know that many of the ways I revise have been recent developments rather than something I have done all along. A lot has been done this year to promote effective study methods, but nothing can compare to hearing it from pupils who have experience in the specific subject. This blog series will provide an insight into the ways we find it best to revise for specific subjects.
P.E.
Moving past the practical aspects of PE, it’s important that you revise for the theory-based exam. You can use flashcards to learn the sub aims and as you create the flashcards the information will help your memory as well. Memorising acronyms can help you build systems of knowledge which you can call upon in the exam. Finally, mind-maps and diagrams can allow you to visually understand the knowledge required ahead of the exam.

Health and Food Technology
Health and Food can be revised through the revision guides that can help to organise your studies. Notes can be summarised through creating mind maps. This can help you identify the necessary information and make your notes clear and concise. Creating a glossary of terms and words can help you to understand all the fundamental aspects of the course.

Fashion and Textiles
With so much to revise within this subject, it is important to stay organised. Having all the notes collated in a fashion that makes sense to you is the main thing. Fashion is a very visual subject, so having visual elements to your notes can help make connections in your mind. Drawings, mind maps, pictures can all be used for this purpose. Answering past papers under timed conditions is always a good idea to put your mind at ease heading into your exam.
